Learning experience

Some time ago I got interested in modding with Arma reforger game.

I wanted to contribute to my servers gaming community with custom content to suit our needs and just to make cool stuff.

At first I started off with some simple assets and objects that can be placed in the world by a Game Master.

And gradually as I learned more about the game engine, objects and components I eventually got into Enfusion scripting (akin to C# language).

It allowed me to make custom components exactly how I wanted to.

Although I had to learn about the replication system too which enables network synchronization across the server and clients.

The results

Over the time, as I published some mods, couple of friends and members of the community were curious to learn and give it a try too.

I was more than happy to show them around the engine and its bit and bobs, with them eventually getting comfortable enough to make their own mods, which made me really happy to see them succeed.

In total, my mods have garnered over 74,848 downloads across 16 mods at the time of writing this, and couple have even got featured in YouTube videos :O.

Some of them are serious mods, for example equipment and clothing, arsenal boxes and systems for Game Masters & players, or just vanilla items reskins and others are silly mods like the jetpack and UFO.
